    Default Swordfish Deep drop question

Looking for an answer to why the wind on leader is commonly at 150' length. Here in California there is very little current so I can drop straight down with a sacrificial weight off the bait. Once I hit bottom the weight comes off and I am fishing. Just need to bump the boat forward every once in a while to cover some ground. Currently I use a 25' 250# wind on connected to a Baitmaster pre-rigged squid with a 15' of 250# test. This gives me a total of 40' to my main line. Is this too short? Would greatly appreciate any comments,

    Thanks,

    Frank

no its not to short, the only rerason for such a long leader is for deploying the rigg in the fast gulf stream currents without tanhgle, no current means u can just drop like u r doing.
