The Hollywood Hills Saltwater Fishing Science and Social Club wishes everyone a safe and fun Labor Day weekend. The club, https://www.meetup.com/Hollywood-Hil...d-Social-Club/, will start off its 2017-2018 seminar series with a talk by Prof. Arthur Mariano from the U of Miami RSMAS on the topography of S FL. Detailed maps from the area will be shown highlighting interesting structure for fishing. In the spirit of the club's long-standing tradition of sharing information, longitude and latitude numbers will be given. Areas close to shore to the swordfish ground and offshore of the Bahamas will be shown. Free door prizes, a great crowd of excellent fisherman including many well-known captains and ocean scientists, and awesome food and drinks at a very reasonable price at Shenanigans East Side Pub, 1300 South Federal Highway, Dania Beach, FL make this the place to be on Sept 6, starting at 7 pm, for those who want to learn where to catch fish.

We are scheduling talks for the first Wednesdays of the next nine months. Our seminar in October will be about the Deep Scattering Layer, why is it important, and how to find it from Prof. Gary Hitchcock from the U. of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. Fish concentrate in and around the deep scattering layer. Save the date, Oct 4th for another informative seminar. cheers, ProfessorO
