    Default Jellyfish stings

Whats up guys, haven't posted in a while. Been too busy with school to get any fishing in. This past week I was on my senior spring break trip in guanacaste, costa rica (pacific side). I was swimming in the ocean for about three hours one day and ended up with about 10 pea-sized red dots on my arm. They are very itchy. On top of that, I've had a fever and a terrible headache and thought it might be related because I have heard jellyfish can do that. I will try to post a picture. Is this even a jellyfish sting at all? I know it's not the typical long tentacle marks. Any and all opinions would be greatly appreciated

Looks like sealice stings- very common here in Florida and throughout the tropics. There are lots of types of jellyfish and larval forms that can sting.
They inject a toxin into the skin.
Use papain or any other enzyme topically, to breakdown the toxin. It takes time and reapply repeatedly.
    Also Vinegar helps somewhat.
We make a product available at online dive stores and available in local Walgreens pharmacy stores.
Try not to scratch otherwise you may get an infection and fever.
In a very bad reaction you may also need to take an antihistamine like Benadryl and also something for the fever.
An oatmeal bath/soak also helps with itching.
Next time if you get stung do not take a fresh water shower until after treating the stings; freshwater causes a massive eruption of the stinging cells.
Sealice usually collect around the liner of your bathing suit, so remove your suit before showering or else swim naked!
    Otherwise swim naked!
    Don't scratch!

Remember that whore you got on the first night? Basically an untreatable tropical disease. Good luck!
