  1. I was contacted by the user Pretender and suggested to ask you about tagging information. The Billfish Foundation (TBF) just had a recaptured swordfish reported with tag BF401831. Unfortunately, we do not have the original tagging information or know exactly who the tag was given to. We do know that is was likely distributed to someone affiliated with the Swordfish Club, Pompano Beach. We would appreciate it if anyone who has information on this tag would contact us at .

Tag and recapture information is very important to better understanding billfish and ensuring anglers can enjoy them for generations to come. This is a very impressive recapture as well; the sword was caught off of Newfoundland, Canada this past July and weighed in around 300 lbs.

If you have information or any other contacts, please let us know.

I read your post about the SAT tags. We fish in the northern gulf out of the pandhandle, not the florida straights, but I have always been interested in putting a SAT tag on a swordfish we release. Would love to be able to tag one with a SAT tag up here in the northern gulf, is this study just for the south florida swords?
