Fishing License - Saltwater and Freshwater

Most states, by law require all anglers to purchase a fishing license.   This means, that even if you are not harvesting the fish, you still need a state license.

While each state’s laws vary, you should check in with your local state wildlife organizations to find out the exact specifications of the license.

Florida, for example, requires anglers to have a general license, and also special licenses for crawfish, snook, and migratory species such as Swordfish.

Usually officers will pull over a boat, and ask for licenses for all persons aboard the vessel, whether they are fishing or not.

So before heading out for your next day of fishing, make sure your licenses are up to date, and cover the type of fishing you are doing.
