James Elliot wins 20th Annual Lake Toledo Bend McDonald’s Big Bass Splash
James Elliot was recently recognized as the winner of the 20th Annual Lake Toledo Bend McDonald’s Big Bass Splash. He caught a 12.38 pound bass fish to take home the championship trophy, as well as a Hummer and a fishing boat.
“I didn’t know how big she was until we came to the weigh-in,” said Elliott of his winning fish. “We didn’t weigh her or get her once she was placed in the livewell except to see how she was doing. When she was coming out of the livewell she just kept coming and coming and I knew then she was a pretty big fish. I waited to weigh her in and earned the T-shirt bonus of $500.”
It was a close competition with many competitors reeling in large fish weighing over eight pounds. “I predicted the big bass would be an 8.6-pound bass before the tournament,” said Bob Sealy, the founder and president of Bob Sealy Outdoors, co-sponsor of event. “Was I wrong…three fish were weighed over ten pounds.”
The next Big Bass Splash will take place next year sometime in late July.
